In response to incendiary balloons: The IDF attacks in the Gaza Strip
After at least nine fires broke out during the day in the envelope settlements, Air Force planes fired missiles at targets in the Strip.
The attack follows a riot that began on Saturday in demonstrations near the fence, during which a Border Patrol fighter was shot and wounded in Barel Hadaria Shmueli.

The IDF began attacking targets in the Gaza Strip this evening (Monday). Air Force planes fired missiles at the targets, following tensions that began on Saturday with demonstrations near the border fence, during which a Border Patrol fighter was shot and wounded in Barel Hadaria Shmueli. Today, nine fires broke out in the Gaza Envelope settlements as a result of incendiary balloons being inflated.
Meanwhile, the IDF began expanding the security strip between demonstrators on the Gaza Strip border and soldiers following the recent clashes. The fence and the creation of a new barrier that will make it difficult for Palestinians to approach the fighters, including the construction of a mound that will allow the forces to control the area better.
The incident investigation revealed that snipers from the Border Police's undercover unit were required to shoot Palestinians in the near future, and Magellan unit snipers were set to shoot Palestinians at a distance from the fence - but did so only in isolated cases. Armed at a longer range and not just near the fence.
