Ministry of Health Director General Prof. Nachman Ash said this morning (Monday) that teachers who do not get vaccinated or agree to be tested may not work and receive a salary.
As you may recall, last night the Corona Cabinet decided that the school year will open on September 1, and a green label will be applied to teachers.
"I agree with the decision at this point in time, there are certain benefits to this opening," Prof. Ash told FM103.
"You have to charge the teacher or get vaccinated or get tested once a week or twice, if not, he can't continue teaching," he said.
: "This issue is not yet closed, it is not clear if these teachers will receive a salary."
Regarding students who will not be vaccinated, he said: "There is a compulsory education law, and the student will continue to come to school. We do not want to harm students."
Prof. Ash commented on the views heard in the cabinet discussion: "There were voices saying 'because of the level of morbidity, the number of infections and the fear that the opening of studies will increase the number, to postpone it'. "A stop and even a stop in the coming days. The proposals were to postpone by ten days, to open after Rosh Hashanah or after the holidays."
Corona's supervisor, Prof. Salman Zarqa, said in an interview with the GLC that the opening of the school year: "Returning to school is a goal that is important to us as a society.
We sat down and came up with an outline, but it is not hermetic, there will be cases of infection and more classrooms will be closed.
We did not find a formula and there is no magic solution. "
The one who does not sound optimistic this morning is Corona Cabinet member, Minister Zeev Elkin.
"We are gaining a temporary slowdown in the growth of patients in a difficult situation thanks to the booster vaccine, and this stabilization will be seen in the next two weeks," the minister said in an interview here on Monday.
At the same time, the minister added: "But according to all the models presented to us in yesterday's discussion - after that the number of critically ill patients will continue to rise. .
However, Elkin - who stated a few weeks ago that he supports the closure as early as August - said the option is not on the table for the holidays either: "It has heavy economic significance, there is currently no justification for the closure according to the data."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health published the morbidity data this morning.
