Stopover in the Balearics: Ibiza, the essence of the party

2021-08-23T05:10:49.516Z

Two eagerly awaited addresses, the Six Senses Ibiza hotel and the El Silencio club, have just opened their doors on the island. We tested them.

When in 2015, Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses Hotels Resorts & Spas, and his teams discovered in the bay of Xarraca a hotel with its feet in the water with a breathtaking view of the cobalt sea on one side, and a vast pine forest on the other hand, they know they have finally found what they are looking for. But it will take titanic work and the personal involvement of owner Jonathan Leitersdorf, architect and businessman, to transform the existing complex into a luxury resort worthy of the Six Senses collection. It is almost done today. Do not imagine villas nestled in the vegetation with private pools and Asian decor, here we are in Ibiza! Echoing the spirit of the island, to be happy, we live together in broad daylight, around several central buildings (including 116 keys) facing the swimming pool. The atmosphere is festive, the atmosphere elegant and relaxed, even family and friendly, but absolutely not show off.

To develop its creative universe, Six Senses Ibiza called on experts: Tomer Biran and Shivas Howard-Brown for the musical programming, Magnum Photos for the exhibition curator for public spaces, Daniela Agnelli and Tiffanie Darke for the sourcing of pieces by exclusively green fashion and lifestyle of the eco-concept store… In terms of experiences, the hotel is based on three Ibizan pillars: “community, spirituality and celebration”. The spa offers all post-new age disciplines (the region has no shortage of excellent practitioners), sports (boxing ring) and comprehensive longevity programs. Local products are in the spotlight in the three restaurants, including Chef Eyal Shani's HaSalon Ibiza table. Even if everything is not yet perfect at the start of operations, we salute thesustainable and innovative ambition of this leading luxury hotel group located in the north of the island, the only resort in the Balearic Islands to be BREEAM certified.

El Silencio, "beach house" version

50 km away, to the south, the last rays of the sun cover Cala Molí with golden reflections. This wild cove surrounded by pine trees, popular in the 1970s, has brought out its bright clothes. Since the beginning of the summer, low cost jet-setters, fashionistas and other influencers have been meeting there, in the Spanish annex of the Silencio. Opened in Paris ten years ago by David Lynch, the select club is transformed here into a “beach house” with a restaurant, a cocktail bar and an immersive art installation (photo above) by the ibizian artist Miranda Makaroff. At the helm in the kitchen, Jean Imbert brought back in his suitcases the concept "

Guided by the desire to shake up Ibiza's cultural scene and restore the beach to its former atmosphere, El Silencio is proving to be the ideal address to be seen and seen. Feet in the sand, the hippie spirit remains however well buried.
