12% of IDF soldiers who serve regularly and so far have so far refused to be vaccinated against the corona virus.

Arranged military orders or procedures have not yet been established in relation to vaccine refusers and their participation in regular military activity.

Despite statements by the IDF regarding the proper and respectful treatment of soldiers and commanders who refuse to be vaccinated against Corona for various reasons, some who refuse the vaccine have reported "silent abuse" by commanders and the immediate environment in various units, especially courses and training.

In the midst of the August 2021 recruitment cycle, candidates are recruited to the IDF for various units, some of whom were not vaccinated due to the fear of the injection itself or due to the consequences of the vaccine itself. According to testimonies from soldiers' parents, the treatment of soldiers who have not been vaccinated is uneven, and includes impatience and physical distance. Some are even asked to stand aside in activities that require overcrowding of soldiers in a building or in joint missions in a closed space. Parents also said that in some cases the commanders hinted to the soldiers that they would not be able to go on operational missions in the future or even advance in the course stages and awarding ranks - if they were not vaccinated. The atmosphere created around those soldiers who were not vaccinated causes group pressure, sometimes "shaming" which is interpreted as abuse, even though the commanders are required to maintain the soldiers' medical confidentiality.

In the city of the Baha'is, several cases of abuse have been reported in the past six months, which have been dealt with quickly by the senior command, but in some cases the soldiers have testified to "silencing" the cases. Judge for themselves "on this issue, which is a horizontal problem in the IDF.

The IDF spokesman said that 88% of all IDF servicemen, regular and permanent soldiers, are vaccinated or recovering.

It was also reported that the IDF encourages its servants to be vaccinated by choice and instructs the commanders to emphasize the benefits of the vaccine and its safety through information.

The vaccine is offered to servants in an easy and accessible way, starting from the recruitment stage, in order to encourage new recruits to be vaccinated as well as throughout the service.

The IDF sees great importance in carrying out vaccinations among its servants in order to maintain operational competence and continuity of functioning.

We emphasize that a soldier who declares that he does not wish to be vaccinated against the virus will not be tried or punished. "
