The Minister of Transport, Eng. Zuhair Khuzaym, discussed today with Thierry Mariani, a member of the European Parliament, a member of the French National Rally Party, and his accompanying delegation, the difficult conditions that the transport sector suffers from as a result of the negative effects of the unilateral coercive Western economic measures imposed on the Syrian people and their repercussions on the citizens.
The minister reviewed the negative effects of the terrorist war on Syria on the various transport sectors, land, sea, air and rail, the destruction of roads and bridges by the US and Turkish occupation forces, the destruction of roads and bridges, the theft of laboratories and warehouses, and the impact of Western economic sanctions on “Syrian Airlines”, airports, air transit, ships, ports, supplies, training and programs.
The Minister of Transport referred to the qualitative work carried out by the workers to continue maintaining and rehabilitating the infrastructure and technical requirements, especially in aviation, railways, ports, roads and bridges.
The members of the delegation expressed their understanding of the impact of Western economic measures on Syria, noting that they would convey this to the European Parliament and their peoples, stressing the need to re-launch economic exchange with Syria and what is related to the materials needed by the sector such as tools, spare parts, equipment, spare parts, maintenance, programs, operating systems and others.
