The school year began in the ultra-Orthodox sector about two weeks ago, on Elul (August 9), when the rate of verified corona carriers in the sector matched the national average and stood at less than four percent of positive results.

Since then, however, due to returning to school, there seems to be a dramatic contagion in the sector and a real doubling in the number of those infected.

According to the Ministry of Health, the rate of positive results in this sector currently stands at 11.48 percent, while the rate of positive tests in other sectors stands at about five percent.

The opening of the school year seems to be a warning sign for the other sectors.

In fact, if there is a very slight increase in the number of infections among the general public in the last month, when the rate of positive results rose from around four percent to around five percent, then in the ultra-Orthodox sector it triples the rate within two weeks, even though it Be less vulnerable to the virus.

In this context, it should be noted that the jump in the rate of infection in the ultra-Orthodox sector is also noticeable in light of the fact that in the current serological surveys, it is clear that in this sector the level of virus infection was relatively high.
