The old
"María Paulina" house,
located in the center of
Monte Grande
and where the De Rocha bowling alley operated until the beginning of this year, had 115 years of history.
It was demolished despite the previous warning from neighbors and local historians, an infraction applied by the Municipality of Esteban Echeverría and the subsequent closure of the work precisely because it had started the demolition after the act that disallowed it.
The house located
in Dardo Rocha and Dorrego,
two blocks from the Monte Grande station of the Roca train and in front of another building with history -the La Quintana restaurant-, stood out for its construction with its large lanterns, its high windows and its large iron and wood gate.
It had been modified several times, but it continued to maintain its original facade.
"Its origins date back to 1906 when Don Juan Cristian Schenzer built it, the passage of time made the residence become a wine bar, then a cafe bar, a craft bread shop and other numerous shops until it reached the old bowling alley of the zone, "said Jorge Abalo, a member of the group Historias Echeverrianas.

"
We do not want to lose more historical properties in the hands of the piquetera del progress
, we must raise awareness in order to protect our building heritage," asks the group of historians in a post on Facebook.
From the Municipality of
Esteban Echeverría they
assured that they are still not aware of the complete information but they do clarify that the demolition was not authorized. "First they were given an infraction because they were in works without permission. And the next day they
began the demolition, ignoring this infraction.
Then the municipality decided to close the work," explained the local authorities.
"Our proposal has to do with the atrocity they did after the demolition," complained, from another village, councilman Pablo Losadas, a neighbor and member of the Juntos alliance. "We are five blocks from the municipality and they closed after it was demolished. They tell us that they did not have a construction permit, not even a demolition permit. "
The legislator said that the place
"was demolished in five hours and there is nothing left."

"There was a construction on a continuous plot that overlooks Dardo Rocha street, but María Paulina's plot is different. And we all understood that that was the limit, the house and the corner," said Losada.
From the
Echeverrian Histories
group they
assure that they had been asking for an ordinance to declare the house historical heritage but the demolition came before that even had any signs of materializing.
Now, through the neighborhood bench, they made a request for information to the Municipality to see who are those behind the demolition and the alleged construction of a shopping mall.
