Many parents are afraid to send their children to schools on September 1 • "After a week everyone will go to isolation"

Many parents, especially young children who cannot be vaccinated, fear the expected morbidity in schools, and say out loud: it would have been better to postpone the opening of the education system to October.

The problems with the serological tests on the one hand, the load on the speed tests that only take a day on the other hand, and of course the fear of infections that will lead to family isolation - raise the threshold of concern among parents.

Lior and Etty Vaknin, parents of three from Ashdod, in a dilemma.

The two girls over the age of 12 are vaccinated, but what do you do with ten-year-old Ido, who is in fifth grade?

Lior: "Under the age of 12 there is definitely a fear. They are not vaccinated. The fear is from a closed class with 25 or more children, and we are already thinking that after a week they will say there is a verified student - and everyone goes home for isolation. The fear is high."

Lior emphasizes: "We will send him to school, but at the same time we are already preparing for a scenario like the one I mentioned. We do not see anything positive in the outline of the opening of the school year. This is hardly how you learn in September. Mass infections will mainly affect families, especially during the holidays. This epidemic is hitting everywhere, and there is a very large loosening among the public. Scary".

Shani and Hagai Buzaglo from Ashdod also have a similar opinion.

They are the parents of three, and the two youngest, Yaron and Ariel, are five and nine years old.

"In my opinion, it was possible to postpone the start of school until after the holidays, just for fear of isolation during the holiday," says Shani.

"And yes, I would expect teachers to be vaccinated exactly as they expect us to, and if a teacher does not want to be vaccinated then he should present a negative test to Corona at least twice a week. They are no different from middle school and high school children."

"Vaccine Anxiety"

Meanwhile, the argument between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated has already led to clashes between parents who came to pick up textbooks at one of the schools in Rishon Lezion, which is also a red city.

One parent said he came to pick up the textbooks but decided not to send the child to school because he is not vaccinated, and he himself does not believe in vaccines.

In response, he received a barrage of angry reactions.

"They were really angry with me," G., a resident of the city, told Israel Today. "I said it was my decision not to get vaccinated or to bring foreign material into my children, so out of responsibility I would not send the child to school. I was told I was endangering everyone, but I was not endangering anyone because those who were vaccinated were actually protected, no? Unnecessary anxiety on the part of the vaccinated. "
