Afghan pop star Aryana Sayeed details harrowing departure from her country

An Afghan pop star shared her heartbreaking story of fleeing her country.

Aryana Sayeed and her fiancé, Hasib Sayed, dated when the Taliban took over Afghanistan and spoke to

Access Hollywood

about their experience, part of which they shared on their verified Instagram account.

"I felt like I was going to die here, literally," he said.

"I was desperate. This is like a miracle that we get out."

Sayeed said the airport was in chaos, with women fainting and crowds gathering in desperation to get a flight out.

Aryana Sayeed also recounted that a woman tried to get her to take her baby.

"I can't separate a baby from the mother, and the mother actually wanted me to take the baby, but then I couldn't," he said.

"The soldiers asked me if it was my baby and I said, 'Look, it's not mine, but could I let her in because the baby is going to die? We can't do that ...'"

Sayeed and Sayed are now in Los Angeles and she says she is worried about the millions of people left behind.

"He has been in contact with friends and family who are still there," he said.

"They are desperate, absolutely desperate," he said.

"They have no food or shelter and they live in fear. And my heart bleeds for them," said Aryana Sayeed.
