A 48-year-old man from Bad Tölz was refused a bus ride because he was not wearing a mask.

However, he presented the driver with a medical certificate that released him from the mask requirement.

Now the RVO has already apologized.

Bad Tölz - The mask requirement in local public transport has long been part of everyday life and will probably remain for a while. However, the potential for conflict on the subject has apparently still not come to a complete standstill. A Tölzer (48), who is exempted from wearing a mask by a doctor's certificate, complained to the Tölzer Kurier that a bus driver had simply left him standing at the Isarkai. The RVO has meanwhile apologized to the man.

The incident occurred when the 48-year-old wanted to drive from Tölz to Kochel on a Saturday in August to visit his parents' grave.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, he says he has never had problems driving without a mask when he shows his certificate.

“I have asthma,” he explains.

"The certificate comes from a local doctor and not from the Internet." He always shows the certificate without being asked and then sits as far away from other passengers as possible.

But he puts on the mask for shopping, he reports.

"That works for ten to 15 minutes."

No mask: You are not allowed to ride

That day it happened to him for the first time that the bus driver refused to let him get on. “Then I went home without having achieved anything,” says Tölzer. Because the next bus to Kochel would not have left until three hours later. In addition, the incident caused uncertainty among the Tölzer. “I depend on public transport,” he says. Because of a slight handicap, he cannot walk well. Professionally, he has to go to Munich as a teacher and needs a bus and BOB. He has been in the home office for some time, “but there will come another time when I have to be on site”. If he can then not rely on being taken on public transport, that is a big problem for him. In response to a request from the Tölzer Kurier, the RVO is remorseful. "We are very sorry, that the recognition of a passenger's medical certificate resulted in inconvenience, ”says spokeswoman Anna Werkowski. "As an apology and replacement, the passenger received a personal letter and a multiple ticket for city traffic."

The 48-year-old concerned then confirms this - and adds that the bus driver even apologized to him personally the next time he got in.

That is the end of the matter for him.

“I just hope that the RVO will also inform its other employees,” says the Tölzer.

In any case, the basic rules at the bus company are generally clear: passengers aged 15 and over are required to wear an FFP2 mask, children between 6 and 14 need a face-to-face mask, says Werkowski.

"Passengers who cannot wear an FFP-2 mask for health reasons need a medical certificate for this."
