1000 euros subsidy for a cargo bike?

For the Greens, this is the key to the turnaround in traffic.

But not everyone shares this opinion.

Berlin - One billion euros to fund cargo bikes?

For the Greens, the perfect solution for a traffic turnaround is to subsidize 1,000,000 cargo bikes with 1,000 euros each.

But how useful is this project?

From the CDU, FDP and the left, at least, the Greens received a lot of criticism last Sunday (August 22nd, 2021).

On Twitter, on the other hand, users got creative and mocked the idea.

Green budget politician Sven-Christian Kindler spoke out in favor of the editorial network Germany (RND) for funding one million cargo bikes.

“There is no clean mobility for free,” said Kindler.

The Green politician would like to see one billion euros made available for this in the coming legislative period.

The Greens attach great importance to cargo bikes in the turnaround in traffic.

Craftsmen and small businesses could in future do their work with the help of e-cargo bikes.

Unlike before, the Greens also want to subsidize privately used cargo bikes.

Funding is currently only intended for companies, municipalities or associations.

Grant for cargo bikes: Annalena Baerbock thinks that's right

"I think funding for cargo bikes is very right," said Green Chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock last Sunday (22.08.2021) in the Tagesschau24 online program.

Baerbock sees an inequality when electric cars are subsidized with 6,000 euros.

People without a driver's license could also benefit from the funding: They could bring their purchases and errands home without a car.

"We are increasing federal funding and advisory services for the expansion and modernization of cycling infrastructure, creating a powerful center of excellence for cycling and subsidizing the purchase of job and cargo bikes as well as S-Pedelecs," says the Greens' election program for the Bundestag election.

1000 euros grant for a cargo bike: criticism from the FDP and the left

The FDP expresses sharp criticism of the Greens 'project: “The Greens want to use the taxpayers' money to pursue clientele policy.

We will not save the world climate by subsidizing cargo bikes in Berlin-Kreuzberg, ”said Vice-parliamentary group leader Christian Dürr last Sunday (August 22nd, 2021) of the AFP news agency.

Left-wing parliamentary group leader Amira Mohamed Ali told the world that cargo bikes could be a support in some cities but not help anyone in rural areas.

“Instead, local public transport should be systematically expanded, and ticket prices must fall,” said Mohamed Ali.

There was also a lot of discussion on social networks.

Many of the users scoffed at the suggestion.
