2021-08-24T20:24:01.736Z

The unvaccinated are more vulnerable: their share among the deceased - 3.5 times their share in the population • Most of the deceased in the fourth wave are aged 80 and over • 59% men • About a third of background diseases

Data on the deaths of the fourth wave are revealed:

34% of them were not vaccinated, 61% were vaccinated and the rest were partially vaccinated (verified after the first dose or up to two weeks from the second dose).

By comparison, in the third wave of the corona in Israel 70% were unvaccinated.

The share of the unvaccinated in the current wave is three and a half times greater than their share in the general population.

The current wave has a particularly high number of deaths: 40 of them (12.5%) were residents of Netanya, most of them from a nursing home in the city, one of the largest geriatric centers in the country where many corona patients from all over the country were treated, and another institution where there was an outbreak.

After Netanya at the dubious peak are Tel Aviv (27 have died so far in the fourth wave), Rishon Lezion - 16, Hadera, Ashdod and Petah Tikva.

Just over a third of those who died in the fourth wave (36.2%) had background illnesses.

The Ministry of Health explains this by saying that the younger deceased are not vaccinated and are usually also without background illnesses.

This is compared to 42% in the second and third waves and only 11% in the first wave.

59% of the deceased are men in this wave and 41% are women.

The average age of the deceased in the third wave was 79.2, higher than in the third wave (76.3) or the second (78.3) but lower than the first wave (80.8).

However, the Ministry of Health notes that in the third and fourth waves there are large differences between the vaccinated and unvaccinated deceased, both in age and background morbidity, with the unvaccinated deceased being significantly younger and healthier (with less background morbidity).

In light of this, no conclusions can be drawn from the division by waves.

In the first wave, which lasted 100 days, 307 people died.

In the second, which lasted 152 days, 2,531 people died.

In the third and longest wave of all (175 days) 3,572 people died, and at its peak the daily death toll reached 76.

124 aged 80 and over

Most of the deceased in the fourth wave (124) are aged 80 and over, 65 are aged 79-70, 34 are aged 60 to 69. Only two deceased are aged 17 to 39.

The data transmitted from the Ministry of Health include 231 deceased out of 404 deceased so far in the fourth wave (66 days).
