The increase in covid-19 cases in Guatemala has created frustration among the country's medical community since, given the precariousness of the health system, not all those infected can be adequately cared for.
An example of this is that some intubated patients are tied to their beds to prevent the artificial respiration systems from being removed due to discomfort or pain.
Given the rise in infections, the Government of Guatemala decreed a state of calamity a few days ago and a curfew from 10 pm to 4 am for a month.
