Russia: One-year-old survives three nights in the forest despite wild animals

"One of the groups stopped after a long search to take a short rest and suddenly they heard a soft beeping," said a spokesman for the rescue group "Salvar".

"The group called again and heard another beep." Then they discovered little Lyuda in the undergrowth.

"Everyone was crying - experienced and voluntary helpers, residents, everyone was sobbing," said the spokesman.

Lyuda, the 22-month-old daughter of a nuclear physicist, was found in a forest with fallen trees about two and a half kilometers from her parents' home, where wild animals like brown bears and wolves live.

But the girl was lucky: the nights of her disappearance were unusually mild at 20 degrees, which helped her to survive.

Little Lyuda was taken to a special children's hospital for examination.

"The child's condition is stable and there is no danger to life," announced the regional health minister Olga Stunzhas.

The girl was reunited with her relieved mother and was given an IV in the hospital to strengthen her strength.
