After the congress of the Student Union of the University of Hong Kong passed a motion to "grate" Liang Jianhui, the perpetrator of the July 1 assassination, and "sacrifice for Hong Kong", it caused an uproar. The school advocated severe punishment. The school’s role also prohibits all involved students from entering the campus and using university resources until further notice. It’s not difficult to see that the school completely separates the students’ actions from the school’s education, as if they do not have to bear any responsibility.
However, when students go crooked or go astray, can the school be able to take care of themselves?

In September 2017, the Democracy Wall of many universities caused controversy over the banners of Hong Kong independence. Ten university presidents later jointly signed a statement, emphasizing that they did not support "Hong Kong independence."
