The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games kicked off with a spectacular ceremony held today (Tuesday).
33 athletes in the Israeli delegation will take part in a competition in which, in terms of historical achievements, Israel is considered a Paralympic power.
The flag of the delegation was carried by the paddler and winner of the 2016 2016 Mario Gold Medal, Moran Samuel, and Nadav Levy, who competes in Bochia and is considered one of the founders of the industry in Israel.

In total, Israel has 123 gold, 123 silver and 129 bronze medals in the Paralympic Games, and it ranks 15th all-time.
The last gold an Israeli athlete won was in London 2012, when tennis player Noam Gershuni was at the top of the podium.
In the current delegation we will be able to see swimmers Mark Millier, Ami Dadon and Iyad Shelby holding world records and hoping to leave Tokyo with another medal around their necks.
Apart from those who will compete in the current games, Israel has some real legends.
Like for example Tzipi Rubin, she has 30 personal medals, 15 of which are gilded in 3 disciplines: table tennis, swimming and basketball.
