At least 13 people died in Venezuela as a result of the torrential rains that occurred in the state of Mérida, according to Governor Ramón Guevara at a press conference.

Guevara said that he requested the deployment of security forces to attend to those affected by the rains.

The municipalities most affected have been Tovar, Rivas Dávila and Antonio Pinto Salinas, where there are obstructed roads and failures in the electric power service.

The governor of Mérida indicated that among the deceased there are two minors.
