At the meeting with the heads of state and government of the G7, US President Joe Biden rejected the demand for an extension of the troop withdrawal in Afghanistan.
The White House announced.
The reason would be an "additional risk" for the US troops.
Biden "made it clear that with every day of operations on the ground, we increased the risk to our troops as the threat of ISIS increased," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement.
