The untimely death of Said Al-Kharomi, who passed away earlier this morning after suffering a heart attack, is expected to have political implications for the stability of the Bennett-Lapid government and the strengthening of the coalition.

Alhromi, representative of Bedouin settlements in REM sleep and in the Knesset, was a professional politician, opinionated, independent, determined to promote the interests of his constituents in the Knesset and the coalition, particularly with regard to illegal building demolitions in the Negev.

During the coalition negotiations to join the government of the United Arab List-torch Bennett Al-Kharoumi raised difficulties in these matters, and even abstained from voting on the formation of the government last June in protest that all his demands were not met.

Issues close to Al-Kharomi's heart - and especially illegal construction in the Negev - are also very close to the hearts of right-wing coalition parties - right and new hope, creating a built-in tension that continued even after the formation of the government, as enforcement of illegal construction continues.

At one point, the coalition also referred Lalhromi as an independent faction - but since his appointment as chairman of the Interior Committee, members of the coalition felt that he is more committed and cooperative.

His successor, MK former Iman Khatib, who has served in the Knesset for 23 months , Is an educator and social worker by training, who is considered loyal and very close to the chairman of RAAM Mansour Abbas.

Apparently, it will create fewer challenges to the day-to-day running of the coalition and government, especially in the run-up to the budget transfer, which requires a 61-finger majority.
