The Be'er Sheva District Court today (Wednesday) convicted Aviad Moshe of attempting to murder his ex-wife, Shira Isakov, who came to the hearing and was present in the courtroom when the ruling was given.

Regarding his accusation in the section of the abuse of the minor, the argument of the defense against this section was that he could not be convicted, because the acts were not committed in him (in the son of Asiskov and Moshe) but in front of him.

However, the court ruled - in light of the damage and psychological consequences, a toddler under the age of two, witnessed the cruel acts and was at the heart of the attempted murder, so in this section he was also convicted.

Shira Isakov said after the decision:

"I am surprised and very happy - we will do justice here.

I did not think he would do such a thing, it could have damaged my and my son's life. .

Moshe admitted most of the facts, but claimed he did not try to murder her.

He claims he attacked her because she teased him for a long time.

In reading the conviction, the judge referred to Iscove's testimony: "She described things in a balanced way without affecting the emotional turmoil. Despite a traumatic and terrifying event, the severe injury and long rehabilitation.

"A similar impression arose from reading the complainant's testimony at the hospital. Despite her difficult physical and mental condition, she described it in a coherent manner and very similar to what she said in court."

Regarding the testimony of Aviad Moshe, the judge said in the conviction reading: "Most of the defendant's testimony dealt with painting the complainant in a very negative light. He also refrained from telling what happened, did not detail or explain. We were left with a black hole.

"He is not interested in answering questions, both in the police and here. He explains that he is the victim and the violent singing - various statements that left a negative impression on me."

She added: "He did not provide an explanation of what he was trying to do if not to murder her. He replied 'I lost it, I was not there' - all of which make it difficult to believe his testimony. He is selective and manipulative both in the police and in court."

Prosecutor Moran Gaz said:

"I am really excited. I think the court today took a significant step towards male and female complainants. He took a huge step. I had no doubt that there was a murder attempt in this case. He was convicted in a reasoned and amazing decision.

"I want to thank Shira for exposing the entire state of Israel to the horror she experienced without filters. It gave many women the strength to deal with what they are going through. My daughter after the incident told me, 'Mom I do not want to get married' - and today the court told her that All in order for her to have the desire to get married. "

Amit Bitton, a Southern District Attorney, said:

"In addition to being convicted of attempted murder, it is important to emphasize that the court also accepted our position on the offense of abusing a minor. It should be noted that the minor, the joint son of defendant and complainant Shira His father towards his mother, with knife stabs and beatings with a rolling pin for a long time

"Of course he was mentally injured, and the court issued a precedent-setting message to the public that such cases of domestic violence, spousal violence, in the eyes of family members - the same violent person is also abused by a minor."

Naamat chairman Hagit Peer, in response to the conviction of Aviad Moshe:

"There is no punishment in the world that can match the severity of the actions of this man monster who continues to abuse poetry even from his prison cell. At the same time, we expect a significant sentence .

Eva Madjibouz, CEO of the Authority for the Advancement of Women, said regarding the verdict:

"Aviad Moshe's conviction for attempted murder of Shira Isakov sends a clear message - there is no room for physical or verbal violence in society.

Now the court must impose the maximum penalty so that it will lead to deterrence so that cases like this do not recur.

"Iscove's story reached every home in Israel, with the help of the environment that did not remain silent and saved her life and personal exposure that led to raising awareness and warning signs against a violent man."

Iscove, who was severely wounded but managed to recover, has become a symbol of the fight against violence against women.

This is after she chose not to hide the scars and wounds and expose her face for a safer future for women in Israel.

As you may recall, Iscove did not get a divorce from Aviad until he was forced to do so. Later she and Adi Gozi, the neighbor who saved her, lit a beacon at the beacon lighting ceremony on the 73rd Independence Day as part of the same fight against violence and on behalf of all the victims.
