The band "Waldgeflüster" from the district of Ebersberg has dedicated a song of their own to the forest.

In it, she sings about the wood and her home connection to the forest.

But not in folk hit style - but in Bavarian black metal.

County

- From historical events to legends and ghost stories - the older a forest is, the more stories entwine around it. In the single “Im Ebersberger Forst”, “Waldgeflüster” singer Jan van Berlekom tells of Perchten that sneak through the forest or of white boars that chase people through the branches. Resistance fighters from the dark times of National Socialism also find their place.

But the singer from Taglaching (municipality of Bruck) did not come up with these stories himself, but, as he says, researched them for days.

Because the forest had done it to him since the 36-year-old moved to the district five years ago.

There he took regular walks in the local forests. "And then I got stuck at the Ebersberger Forst," says the singer mischievously and adds: "The only place where the mysticism of the forest still spreads in some places today."

What should not be missing from the single about the Ebersberger Forst: a music video with impressions of the forest.

“We left at half past five in the morning to take the audience on a walk in the forest at sunrise,” says the singer.

The musicians have been working on the album "Dahoam" since 2019

Since 2019 the musicians have been working on their new album "Dahoam".

The common goal was to take a critical look at the topics of love for home, traditions and values.

"We wanted to show what the word 'home' means for us: That a place should not only be raved about nostalgically, but also the historical darker side should be kept in mind", explains the singer.

The Ebersberg Forest with its bloody myths should of course not be missing.

Each of the seven “Dahoam” songs bears the name of a different Bavarian town: from Taglaching to the forest to Tazlwurm and Wendelstein, the band celebrates the myths and stories of their homeland.

The almost eleven-minute lyric video has been on YouTube since August.

The complete album "Dahoam" will be released on September 24th on AOP Records and is available on CD and vinyl.
