Change of president in the Lions Club Murnau

Murnau - For the second time, Dr. Wolfgang Ollendorff has been president of the Lions Club Murnau-Staffelsee for 1 year, for which he has been socially committed since 1999. He has been a member of the Lions organization for 45 years and is known for his commitment in Nepal. Before that, he had already been in control of the Lions Club Mittenwald for 23 years, where he was also president twice. As zone officer, he campaigned intensively for the establishment of the mixed Lions Club Garmisch-Partenkirchen Werdenfels in 2000/2001, the first club in the Oberland to accept women.

During an official ceremony in the “Stern” clubhouse in Seehausen, Dr. Ollendorff after a difficult corona year under zoom conditions with his predecessor, attorney Tatjana Vane (née Jokisch). He is looking forward to getting the Lions friends personally enthusiastic about the motto "We serve" and to getting in the mood for activities and lectures for local, national and international aid projects. “Distance creates distance,” says Ollendorff. That should change again this year through lectures by individual members and more opportunities to exchange ideas with one another. "We serve" is the motto of the Lions organization, which the President would like to remind more strongly of this Lions year.What are the main sources of income for the upcoming projects? Ollendorff especially thanks Lionsfreund von Kutzschenbach for the enormous work and organization of the well-known Lions book market with approx. 65,000 sorted books in the Kemmel area (next date: 18 / 19.09.21), to the ladies for the book sales also outside and to the Müller-Böhm couple for the organization and sale of the annual Lions advent calendar (from November 1st, 21st).

Where the Lions club can help in this new Lions year will be finalized by the members at the end of the year, the president explains. The LC Murnau primarily takes care of children and youth projects and the citizens of Murnau in need. The MS group, headed by Elisabeth Bader, is also regularly supported. A large joint project of the Lions Clubs in the Oberland is coming up soon, namely the expansion of the children's hospice 'Polling'.

Furthermore, the club joins superordinate Lions projects, eg "Sight First" for the training of ophthalmologists in Africa. Dr. Ollendorff "his baby", namely the social commitment since 1986 for the poorest in Nepal. It used to be medical tasks in and around Kathmandu, but now there are very successful smaller aid projects in southern Nepal such as student support and school equipment. The President looks forward to the implementation of all these tasks with his Lions friends in the spirit of the motto: WE SERVE. kb
