Genesis GV70 in test

2021-08-25T11:46:05.234Z

The GV70 falls into a very important category for premium manufacturers. The result on the road, impressive and unequivocal

The GV70 completes for him the first impression of Genesis and its vehicles in Israel.

After examining the other models presented by the company in the country, it remains to be seen - until the next wave of models of the company.

The vehicle in question, intended for the most important category in the premium districts, luxury recreational vehicles like it, constitute an important share in the activity in the local market.

First meeting with the GV70 is quite impressive.

Although it includes all the features we already know from the rest of the company's models, it is impossible to say that it is routine or boring.

On the contrary.

The dimensions are impressive, the look is fresh against the background of familiar models and it definitely enjoys a different and innovative fragrance from the outside.

Entering the cabin continues the positive impression.

The design is traditional and less high-tech than some of the competitors, but it's a matter of personal taste.

The workmanship, on the other hand, is excellent, both in terms of materials and assembly.

Even on the interval there is (almost) nothing to complain about.

The GV70 has large dimensions compared to what is acceptable in the category and this is felt in both passenger lines and even in the trunk.

Only the sloping roofline at the rear, hits the head of the passengers, if these are full size.

A second before setting off, you can linger on the huge list of equipment.

Already from the base version you can find here (very partial list) electrically adjustable leather seats with memory, panoramic roof window, 360-degree cameras, fully advanced safety equipment, digital dashboard and the list goes on.

The feeling in the cabin is rich, pleasant, relaxing - just what a car in this segment should transmit.

When it comes to propulsion, the GV70 is based on a propulsion unit without power or other up-to-date couplings.

There is a four-cylinder engine with a volume of 2.5 liters, which uses a turbocharger to produce 304 hp and 43 kg.

This output is routed to the four wheels via an 8-speed automatic-planetary gearbox.

The data is quite stimulating, until you get to the weight section - almost two tons.

The data on the page hints at an impressive and agile ability, which does not always feel that way on the road.

The motor produces significant and linear power, so the performance is quite good.

In addition, if we look at the jump from the place for example, we will find that the dual paddle contributes greatly to the exit from the place.

But the box, which is more geared towards soft and pleasant replacements, and also pedal response with a noticeable lag, take a price immediately and responsively.

I want to say - power is not lacking, but whoever calibrated this car, put comfort in front of him, first of all.

And the steering wheel and suspension also convey the same feeling.

This is a very comfortable car, even though it rolls on a 19-inch rim.

Absorption is very effective on fractures in the city and continues to isolate even as the rate increases.

The seats also add to this impression, with extreme comfort.

Despite the praise for comfort there is no significant complaint about lack of restraint, even at a relatively high rate.

On the winding road the general ease (and lightness of the steering wheel) is felt.

There’s a lot of grip here, and very safe behavior, but this is not a car that exhibits exceptional accuracy or responses.

She treats the winding road with the same effective, pleasant, fast and safe recipe.

With a supercharged, automatic and dual-propulsion unit, fuel consumption is not impressive throughout the busy test days.

We registered 6.8 liters per km near the pump.

Of course, with normative use it will be possible to improve this figure - we managed to reach about 12 km L on a leisurely cruise.

The bottom line brings with it the whole story of this car, and of all Genesis models, almost.

And the story here, is not only the ability or quality of execution, it is also the price.

The base version of the GV70 sells for NIS 340,000 here.

Attempting to equip competitors with a parallel equipment list or a power unit with the same level of power will result in a significantly higher price.

The same competitors come from brands with tremendous depth and meaning, in which Genesis is just beginning to compete.

With this model it does it in a very impressive way, using a young and innovative image and relying on a service package from a reputable importer.

This makes the GV70 a vehicle that cannot be ignored in this category.
