“A trend from the intensive care registry that is deeply worrying,” tweeted Christian Karagiannidis, head of the Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine on Wednesday (25.8).
“The number of operable intensive care beds with ventilation is falling from month to month to around 9,000 now.” The main problem is the lack of staff in the hospitals.
“Many clinics report staff problems to us.
The staff is tired and less, ”writes Karagiannidis.
The graphics shared by the DIVI boss also clearly show: Missing or absent staff has been a main reason for operational restrictions since the beginning of the pandemic.
However, the trend has been more evident since the end of 2020. It was also repeatedly warned that the number of intensive care beds alone was not decisive as long as there was a lack of staff.

According to the RKI * report, 805 Covid-19 cases are currently in intensive care (as of August 24, 12:15 p.m.).
That is 30 more patients than the day before.
The proportion of corona cases in intensive care units is currently 3.6%.

The hospitalization rate is currently a widely discussed indicator.
According to a draft for the new Infection Protection Act, it could replace incidence as a measure.
The hospitalization rate measures the number of hospital cases per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.
