District - How did Corona affect the number of members of the clubs, what happened in the last few months with the sports facilities and the digitization of the clubs.

The around 12,000 sports clubs organized by him had 4,322,473 members as of July 31, 3.2 percent fewer than in mid-year 2020. Especially among children (minus 8.9 percent) and young people (minus 2.8 percent) there were significant declines in the previous year, which was completely characterized by the corona pandemic. Even if the number of members would increase again since the opening of sport in June 2021, according to the BLSV it will be important to inspire children and young people of "Generation Z" (11 to 25 years) in particular for more sport and exercise in the future. The association is hoping for a certain “pull effect” from the major event of the European Championships in Munich next year. Meanwhile, some clubs made good use of the free time for the renovation and renewal of their facilities.With more than 1,600 building applications since June 2019, the volume is at a record level, according to the BLSV. Overall, total investments of more than 203 million euros have been made. The special program for structurally weak regions of the Free State certainly helped. Digitization has also proven to be a success factor during the pandemic. Regarding the further perspectives for the coming sporting year, the direction of the BLSV is clear, as President Jörg Ammon emphasized: “Vaccination is a task for society as a whole.
We are of the opinion that vaccinations are the only way out of the pandemic and back into a normal sporting life. ”Like the BLSV, many clubs would support the Free State's vaccination campaign and offer campaigns of their own.
In conclusion, Ammon formulated a wish to politicians: “Our demand is that there must be no new lockdown in autumn.” Furthermore, with the 3G concept (vaccinated, tested, recovered), no further restrictions in organized sport are necessary the BLSV clear.
