Opinion | To deter the next killer: Aviad Moshe must not see the light of day Israel today

2021-08-25T20:48:43.952Z

The State of Israel must engrave on its banner zero tolerance for violence against women in their homes • The goal: zero murders per year • The way: to compare the severity of punishment between murder and attempted murder • "Pity the cruel - the end that is cruel to the merciful" • Opinion

Anyone charged with attempted murder is a murderer.

Failed killer.

There is no difference between Eliran Malul, the cruel murderer, and Aviad Moshe.

The State of Israel must engrave on its banner zero tolerance for violence against women in their homes.

Target: Zero murders a year.

Any security expert will agree that deterrence is a life-saving tool.

This is just one of the reasons why the state must compare the severity of the punishment between murder and attempted murder.

Eliran Malul is currently facing a charge of aggravated murder of my sister, his late wife Michal Sala. If convicted, the law stipulates that he will serve a mandatory life sentence. In other words, at the age of 65, Aviad Moshe will already be walking among us, and may even go on dates, and that is only to the extent that he will not be deducted a third for good behavior.

In other cases it is worse: just a month ago, the State of Israel released 89 prisoners of domestic violence and incest for reasons of overcrowding in prisons, without their rehabilitation and without giving sufficient warning to the victims.

Sages wrote with extreme wisdom: "Compassion for the cruel - the end that is cruel for the merciful", and I ask: Lord of the world, how many more blood sacrifices will be paid until the justice system begins to permanently remove from society cruel, dangerous and ruthless criminals?

We must not show compassion for murderers, and we must aggravate the punishment with them to the maximum.

In a reformed country, his future wife's killer will know that he is automatically losing his entire world - his liberty, his children, his wife and all his property.

In a reformed world, a woman who has survived a homicide attempt in her home will receive an immediate divorce.

Unfortunately, the reality is that survivors of the assassination attempt find themselves anchored, like Shira Isakov and Liana Hazan, who have been asked by the state to wait patiently until he is kind and agrees to release them.

Murdered children can find a way out of their home, because their home is the common property of the murdered woman and the killer, who insists from prison not to give the orphans shelter - as in the case of the four children of the late Sifrash Tagania. They are also released - and sometimes murderers again, like Mordechai Chai, who murdered his first wife and his second wife.

Aviad Moshe and Eliran Malul must not see the light of day. Both in terms of justice for the victims, both in order to protect future potential victims and in terms of deterring the next future killer.
