A political source said today (Wednesday) that Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is regularly updated throughout the day on security incidents in the south.

"Our impression is that the Americans understand that Hamas is the one that is provocatively acting and agitating the region. They are sending messages on all relevant axes and demanding restraint from Hamas."

Bennett will meet today with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and make it clear that on the Palestinian issue, his line is to maintain stability, without steps from two realities.

The Prime Minister will also make it clear that there will be no freeze on construction in the settlements but no annexation, nor will there be political negotiations with Abu Mazen. At the same time, Israel's interest is in stabilizing the situation of the Palestinian population in the West Bank.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Bennett met today with AIPAC CEO Howard Kor, during his state visit to Washington.

Bennett thanked Kor for the strong support of the lobby in Israel, and emphasized that he sees its activities as a leading and central factor in strengthening Israel's position in the United States.

Later in the evening, Bennett will meet with US Secretary of State Anthony Blink, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

AIPAC Director General Korr congratulated the Prime Minister on his first diplomatic visit to Washington at the invitation of US President Joe Biden.

The two discussed the national challenges facing the State of Israel today at the political, security and economic levels, and agreed to maintain continuous contact.

The climax of the political visit will come tomorrow when Bennett meets with US President Joe Biden.

"Gentleman Biden plans to halt the Iranian nuclear program," said Bennett in a statement yesterday Gurion Airport before takeoff. Bennett is expected to fly back to Israel several hours after the meeting.

Ahead of his landing, the New York Times published an interview with Bennett, the first he has given to international media since replacing Benjamin Netanyahu in June.

Bennett stressed his opposition to the return to the nuclear deal, saying he would present a "new strategy" for a regional confrontation with Iran, which includes cooperation with Arab countries.

He said covert operations against Tehran would continue, in what he described as the "gray area".
