Following the closure of the Rafah crossing, terrorist organizations in Gaza are considering whether to exert pressure on Cairo.

Hamas is considering whether to organize demonstrations on the border with Egypt against the closure of the Rafah crossing and even withdraw the terrorist organization's forces from the area, which will facilitate smuggling, the Lebanese newspaper "Al-Akhbar" affiliated with Hezbollah reported this morning (Wednesday).

Against the background of the continued closure of the Rafah crossing to the Gaza Strip, it was reported that Hamas and terrorist organizations are considering new options to respond to the Egyptian position alongside Israel.

"Sources said that the terrorist organizations were discussing the possibility of intensifying pressure on Israel along the Gaza border in the coming days, in an attempt to get Cairo to return to it and open the crossing."

In addition, the possibility of escalation against Egypt arose in light of the signals that it had abandoned the role of mediator.

One of the ideas that has come up is that Hamas will withdraw its security personnel along the Egyptian border and allow the smuggling to return.

That is, a withdrawal from the girls with Cairo from 2017.

Recall that for years Egypt fought the smuggling tunnels on the border.

As mentioned, another option that has come up is to organize demonstrations on the border with Egypt in order to push for the reopening of the border crossing in Rafah.

Egyptian sources told the Al-Arabi al-Jadid newspaper last night that the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, sought to moderate Egyptian anger in Cairo with the help of his talks with Egyptian officials in light of security tensions in the Gaza Strip.

Sources confirmed that Haniyeh had asked the Egyptians to open the Rafah crossing, which had been closed since Monday following the embarrassment created for Egypt following the injury of a border fighter on the Gaza border.

On the other hand, the Egyptians demanded from Haniyeh measures that would prove "good intention" before the Rafah crossing reopened.

The sources stressed to him that any unilateral move by Hamas without coordination with Egypt could undermine relations between the parties.

Sources were also quoted as saying that the current government in Israel differs in its approach to the Gaza Strip from the previous government and Cairo seeks to leverage this to reach a permanent truce.

According to the report, Haniyeh said that Hamas was ready to resume negotiations with Israel regarding a truce and a prisoner exchange deal.
