The debate about the BRB's Lint trains continues.

The initiatives Endstation Lint and BRB Barrierefrei have presented a survey that is supposed to attest the Lint “devastating results”.

The BRB considers the study to be tendentious.

District - Gisela Hölscher arrives a few minutes late for the on-site appointment at Gmund train station: traffic jam on arrival.

The FW district chairwoman believes that one reason why people are no longer changing from the street to the train is the Lint trains, which she sees as intolerable, with which the BRB has been commuting between the district and Munich for a year.

They are too loud, and many of them did not even make it onto the train because of obstacles when boarding the train.

Arriving at the train station, Hölscher shows the results of a survey that should prove: Thousands think like them.

"The results are devastating for the Lint."

Survey by Lint and BRB Barrierefrei: "Destructive results" - BRB counters

The survey was carried out by the alliance BRB Barrierefrei around Hölscher, Markus Ertl from the association Unhindered, Ralph Seifert, disability officer of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district, and Helmut Gries from Gmund, together with the Lint campaign around Rudolf Probst. With 17 questions, almost 3000 participants compared the new train with its predecessors: better, the same, worse or unacceptable?

Hölscher emphasizes: In contrast to a survey by the BRB - which in April had confirmed that the Lint was around 95 percent satisfied with passengers - the alliances not only asked people who were already on the train; but also those who do not come in and live on the route. Anyone could submit the form by post or fill it in online. That gives a more realistic picture. The blocking of used IP addresses prevented double voting. Hölscher: "We have given a voice to those who otherwise would not be heard."

In front of the election billboard at Gmund train station, Hölscher explains the result: According to the survey, 2,850 people - around 95 percent of those questioned - rate boarding and alighting on the Lint as unacceptable or worse than on the old trains.

The gap to the platform, steep ramps and narrow stairs were dangerous traps for seniors, parents with prams and passengers with suitcases;

Wheelchair users and the blind anyway.

According to a survey, over 2000 people - including the majority - say that noises and vibrations have become worse for residents.

Interesting: When it comes to questions about punctuality, cleanliness and comfort, the vast majority rate the Lint as better or the same as the old trains.

What do these numbers mean?

"The Lint is not the promised quantum leap", judges Hölscher.

Almost everything has gotten worse or unacceptable.

Probst believes that the advantages of punctuality were bought at the expense of local residents and people with restricted mobility.

"That a new train is more reliable than an old, poorly maintained one is no surprise."

It is clear to the alliance what needs to happen now: “We are calling for new trains,” says Hölscher.

In a press release, the alliance writes: "The aim must be to quickly replace these cheap vehicles with environmentally friendly vehicles that fully meet the requirements for accessibility."

Hölscher, Probst and Co. reject criticism of the structure of their study.

In addition to newspaper reports, they only drew attention to the survey through their groups in social media.

They know that they mainly reached Lint critics.

Nevertheless, the number of participants alone shows how many people are concerned with the topic.

"Lint opponents are not troublemakers and not marginalized," says Probst.

"Many people have problems with the train."

In the coming year, Hölscher, Probst and fellow campaigners want to repeat their survey.

To check the announced progress of the BRB and to keep up the pressure on politics and the railways.

Probst: "Without our initiatives, nothing would have happened."

BRB Managing Director Amini: Survey "clearly tendentious" and "unprofessional"

BRB managing director Fabian Amini wants to think about whether the survey by Endstation Lint and BRB Barrierefrei “provides usable information at one point or another”.

Amini seems to doubt that.

When asked, the BRB managing director said that the survey was “clearly tendentious” and “unprofessional”.

“The results don't surprise us.

We had to reckon with it after the questions and photos on the website of the citizens' initiative clearly aimed at such results and the current survey had been extended several times by weeks and in some cases also changed. "

Amini also contradicts the initiators' argument that they prevented multiple votes by blocking the IP addresses used. "We were approached by passengers and residents who were able to take part in the online voting time and again from the same device and with different information." This could be because IP addresses change, even on the same device. "The result is already watered down."

Amini rejects the alliance's hopes for an exchange of trains. The Lint is a significant improvement, even for people with restricted mobility. He admits the gap to the platform as a disadvantage. “But the advantages of the lint outweigh the rest. The positive development of the passenger surveys and quality measurements by our client, the Bavarian Railway Company, clearly show that the fleet swap was the right decision. “Mas
