The many bids of the late poet and translator Abdel Moeen Al-Malouhi in the field of thought, poetry and translation, which enriched the Arab library with more than 200 books and manuscripts, were the most prominent themes of an honorary symposium organized by the branch of the Arab Writers Union in Homs, with the participation of a number of researchers and friends of the late.

The symposium began with the poet Mazhar Al-Hajji with a poem in which he lamented his late friend, who loved his city, Homs, and his departure formed a tragic void in the literary arena, enumerating his qualities and exploits. He said in it: “I read in you passion, God and homeland

O lover, he has never been humiliated or here.”

In an extensive research reading on Al-Malouhi’s work, and the most prominent feature of it, Dr. Thaer Zain Al-Din, Director General of the Syrian Book Authority, noted the tremendous legacy of Al-Malouhi, which made him a poet, translator, investigator, and a man of enlightenment and renaissance, as he presented the Arab Library with thousands of valuable articles and manuscripts.

Zain al-Din saw that al-Malouhi was one of the most prominent contemporary poets of elegy, who imitated in his poems the giants of Arab poetry who lamented themselves before their death, including “Malik ibn al-Rayb.” The writer is a social, moral and aesthetic reformer.

In his turn, Dr. Mamdouh Abu Loay, the rapporteur of the Translation Society in the Writers Union, described in his research the late “Looks at Al-Malouhi’s Literature” as a giant poet with a tender heart and delicate feelings.

Dr. Basil Masalma, Director of the Translation Directorate at the Book Authority, noted Al-Mallohi’s work in the field of translation, as he transmitted to Arabic many international works from other languages such as Vietnamese and Chinese in a manner that made it distinct by combining the integrity of the language and giving spirit to the text through structures, words and an able style.

For his part, researcher Hossam El-Din Khaddour, editor-in-chief of the quarterly “Jusoor” magazine, described the translator “Al-Malouhi” as being faithful to the text he translates in advance to the Arabic library thanks to his translations as immortal works, expressing Syria’s pride in this stature.

The writer Nizar Oyoun Al-Soud, a friend of the late, spoke about Al-Mallouhi’s journey with thought and culture since he took over in the 1960s the administration of the cultural centers in Homs and Damascus, transforming these centers into sources of cultural, theatrical, artistic and intellectual radiation.

A friend of the late researcher, Shaher Nasr Al-Malouhi, described him as the most sincere in reality and poetry for his homeland and his people, defending the truth in his poems, which were filled with pearls of his beloved, the Arabic language.

The writer Muhammad Al-Dunya valued reading about Al-Mallouhi's poetry, his poems, which were characterized by rich images, intense emotion, and smooth words.

The symposium was concluded by Munqith Al-Malouhi, son of the late, expressing his family's pride in his father's work, which will remain a beacon in the Arab Library, and his thanks for what the participants in the honor gave about the merits of the late.

The seminar, which was presented by the writer Omaima Ibrahim, head of the Writers Union branch in Homs, witnessed the attendance of personalities and official events and an audience of writers and intellectuals from different governorates.

It should be noted that Al-Malouhi was born in Homs in 1917 and worked as a teacher in many schools. He also held several positions, including director of the two cultural centers in Damascus and Homs, and a cultural advisor, and he was a member of the Research and Studies Association.

His translated publications from Western literature into Arabic exceeded 100 editions, as he translated many languages, such as Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, Italian, German, Persian, and major international writers.
