Severe disruptions and delays are expected today (Thursday) on outbound and inbound flights at Ben Gurion Airport, following the announcement by the Airports Authority of its intention to reduce its workforce and lay off workers due to the significant decrease in the number of passengers due to the Corona plague.
The Authority's announcement states that the Ministry of Finance withdrew NIS 4 billion from the Authority's coffers before the crisis began.

The decrease in the number of passengers is due to the decision of the Ministry of Health to require full isolation of all returnees from abroad, including recovering and vaccinated, from all countries of the world, except for 10 countries - only five of which are accepted by Israelis.
Airline workers protested last week at Ben Gurion Airport following the crisis, by blocking runways. The protesters demanded immediate compensation, as the Israeli airline industry is in its worst crisis ever.
