The European Union announced its readiness to work with the new Iranian government and its aspiration to revive the nuclear agreement signed between Iran and Western countries through negotiations.
"The European Union is ready to work with the new government after it has won the confidence of Parliament, and we are looking forward to reviving the nuclear agreement through negotiations," IRNA quoted the spokesman for the European Commission for Foreign Affairs Peter Stano as saying today.
Iran had asked to suspend the negotiations in Vienna on reviving the nuclear agreement until the new president, Ibrahim Raisi, assumed power, but the date for its resumption has not yet been agreed upon.
Intense talks were launched in Vienna in early April between the signatories to the 2015 nuclear agreement, from which the United States withdrew in 2018, and the talks focus on two main points, namely lifting US sanctions on Iran as a prelude to Tehran's return to full compliance with the agreement.
