He supplied the people of Munich with sausages and ran a hotel.

But Rudolf Hambrecht from Moosburg also experienced depths.

He looks back on his 80th birthday.

Moosburg

- The story of Rudolf Hambrecht began on August 24, 1941: someone who later moved out to conquer the world with the Nuremberg sausage.

In between, the native Franconian had almost made it as a hotelier and managing director of three “Bratwurst Friedl” branches in downtown Munich.

The senior, who now lives in Moosburg, told his birthday guests about his extremely eventful life: On Tuesday, Rudolf Hambrecht celebrated his 80th birthday very modestly with two of his sisters and a brother-in-law. Senior officer Karin Linz brought the best wishes from the city. The actual celebration, together with his two children Michael and Nicole and the three granddaughters, will take place on the weekend during a trip to Ellmau, Austria.

Rudolf Hambrecht was born as the only son and oldest of five siblings in Fürth.

He spent his youth and school days in Markt Erlbach (Middle Franconia), where he also played football for a club.

He completed his apprenticeship as a butcher's journeyman in Kitzingen am Main, before taking the master's examination in Nuremberg and starting his career at “Bratwurst Friedl”.

Soon he was managing director of a branch in Nuremberg and was then entrusted with the expansion to Munich.

Golden times in Munich

Together with his wife Marga, whom he married in Winschbach in 1969, he moved to the state capital in the same year and became managing director of the first “Bratwurst Friedl” branch in Färbergraben in Munich.

Two more followed in Theatinerstraße and Sendlinger-Tor-Platz and the Hotel Arosa in Hotterstraße.

At that time, the jubilee remembers, he worked an incredible amount.

In his little free time he played tennis and was active for many years as the 2nd board member at the TC Blau-Weiß Fideliopark Munich.

At the age of almost 40, he also discovered his passion for skiing.

Preferably in the Ellmau area, but also on numerous trips to Canada, the USA, Italy and Switzerland, the successful businessman indulged his passion for skiing in the decades that followed.

But things didn't go up forever for Rudolf Hambrecht.

After the introduction of the euro, business went bad and he lost his hotel and the bratwurst branches.

He is still married to his wife, but the couple have been separated for a long time.

In 2010 the pensioner finally moved to a small apartment in Moosburg to be closer to his son and daughter.

A fall on the underground track has long consequences

With the two children and their families, Rudolf Hambrecht has had a private betting group for the Bundesliga for many years, which the ardent Bayern fan has only been able to win once. Rudolf Hambrecht has been a regular guest in the stands of the record champions from Munich since his time in the Olympic Stadium. He still doesn't miss a game of his favorite club, even if it's only in front of the TV at the moment. Because since an unfortunate fall on the subway tracks at the Marienplatz stop, followed by a long hospital stay in August 2019, the Bayern fan is health restricted. It doesn't look good anymore with skiing or cycling, says the new 80-year-old. But he hopes to be there again in person in the Allianz Arena soon.
