Betty Illner is dead. In the end the cancer was stronger.

Taufkirchen - "Life is not fair", thought many people who knew Betty Illner, who liked and appreciated her very much in the past few months.

Saying goodbye to her hurts many.

This was not least noticeable in the overwhelming attendance at her funeral.

The fact that this always helpful, kind, courteous and extremely committed to the common good had to die at the age of 73, cannot and will not believe the people who have known her. For 19 months she fought the cancer and metastases that had invaded more and more organs in her body. She endured more than 70 chemos in the hope of being able to continue to be there for her husband Heinz, the children Eva, Rainer and Michael and their three grandchildren Paul, Ludwig and Maria. She also wanted to continue her work for the Heimat- und Beautification Association, whose horticultural department she founded in 1990.

Much of what Betty Illner brought to life here will continue to remind people of her: the roundabout planted with 5000 tulip bulbs on the B 15, the silver linden tree behind the church, the white elm at the moated castle, the rose beds in the Bürgerpark and at the church or the planted municipal coat of arms in front of the town hall square. The exchange of plants and the imaginative holiday programs for the offspring are also based on her initiative. Her advice and planting tips, which the gardener was happy to give everyone at any time, are missing.

Illner's incredible commitment was recognized by the Bavarian Prime Minister in 2019 with the badge of honor for 30 years of voluntary work, which her District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer presented.

The Homeland and Beautification Association made her an honorary member.

For 15 years she carried out the Dorfener Anzeiger with pleasure, reliably and always on time.

The soprano was just as passionate with her husband at the Taufkirchener Liedertafel, where she experienced wonderful times.

Her love for people, nature and animals, as the pastor praised her at the funeral, arose in her childhood on her parents' farm in Großwimpasing in the parish of Inning.

She met her husband Heinz in 1966, and they married in 1969.

The two went through thick and thin for more than 50 years.

The fact that so many people accompanied his Betty on her last journey, the hymn board sang her a farewell song and visited her grave, which was covered with beautiful flowers in the hours and days that followed, was a great consolation for him and the family.
