government is planning to
open it completely in October.
However, this is likely to be subject to a few rules.
Thailand plans to open to vaccinated tourists in October
Although the number of corona cases in Thailand is still high and the vaccination rate is also below expectations, the government does not seem to want to wait any longer to open it to tourists. Instead, the population is apparently slowly being
prepared for “living with the virus”
. The National Committee on Communicable Diseases of Thailand is now switching to a strategy that aims to "learn to live with Covid-19". Nevertheless, even when opening up to tourism, one still wants to pay attention to the corona situation and the public health system so that it is not overloaded.
An important component of the opening strategy seems to be that
tourists
must be
fully vaccinated
.
The population at risk is also said to be fully vaccinated, and there are plans to better trace new cases.
The Phuket Sandbox is to serve as a model, a project under which fully vaccinated tourists can travel to the popular holiday destination of Phuket.
There are further prerequisites here that travelers are not allowed to come from high-risk areas and that they also need a negative corona test.
