Willi was rescued from an illegal transport.

A family from Bad Kissingen gave the frightened puppy a new home - today he is a brand star.

Nuremberg / Bad Kissingen - At the age of only four months, the bulldog Willi was put in a transporter with his siblings.

The illegal transport of puppies was stopped near Nuremberg last year.

The disturbed puppies came to the Nuremberg * animal shelter, where they first had to be quarantined for four weeks in rabies.

“The puppies were separated from their mother much too early,” explains Willi's new mom Anastasia in an interview with

.

Not an easy start in life.

Family from Bad Kissingen gives Willi a new home - "He was totally scared"

Anastasia discovered Willi on the Facebook page of the Nuremberg animal shelter. After a trial visit to the family in Bad Kissingen *, Willi was allowed to move into his new home. "He was just lying next to me, was shaking, but after a short time he laid his head directly on my lap and snuggled up to me," says daughter Hailey, describing the first meeting with the bulldog. “He was just totally scared”. Time and patience were the key to winning his trust. “If he doesn't want something, we won't do it either. We don't know what he went through, ”said Hailey. Showing him "a lot of love" helped.

However, there are still situations in which Willi is afraid.

Anastasia's partner Volker is sure that the puppies have had terribly bad experiences.

“If you pick up a broom or open a towel, he's scared.

I think they got a lot of blows, "Volker told

Nuremberg - The couple from Franconia came up with an idea during a walk

“I'm the barista in the family,” explains Volker and laughs. His dream: one day his own coffee label. He remembers well when he tried a coffee bean from Brazil and was absolutely thrilled. While taking a walk he told Anastasia about it. “A super fair bean, straight from the farm, originally in character and strong in taste,” says Volker. "And then Anastasia said: 'Man, that's just like our Willi'". And then the "Bulldog Coffee" was born. Willi's white bulldog head has graced the packaging of its owners' coffee since the end of last year. So a real advertising star.

A friend of the family even made an ice cream from the Bulldog Coffee, which she offers in her iced coffee in Nuremberg.

“We are very proud of that,” said Volker.

Soon, the coffee will also be available in selected supermarkets in the region.

Family donates one euro per kilo sold to the animal shelter

Instead of spending money on advertising, the family decided to cooperate with the Nuremberg animal shelter.

For every kilo of coffee sold, one euro is donated to the animal shelter.

But that is not enough.

To give the employees something back for their good work, they receive a coffee delivery every month.

"You have a 'coffee flat' with us," says Anastasia happily.

It was her idea to give something to the employees as well.

Due to the corona pandemic, the illegal puppy trade is literally “booming”. Transports are stopped again and again. Just a few months ago the Nuremberg animal shelter took in 101 puppies from a puppy transport. One of the baby dogs died after just a few weeks.
