Weßling - Anton G. Leitner published the new dialect volume “Wadlbeissn” with “gripping verses” on his 60th birthday. The solo reading premiere took place on August 24th in his hometown of Weßling at the 15th Five Lakes Film Festival. “That was a great evening,” says the 60-year-old happily. The next solo reading in the Starnberg district from “Wadlbeissn” is not planned until April 28, 2022 in the Gautinger bosco due to the corona.

"After a long time I was finally able to make a guest appearance in the Weßlinger Pfarrstadel", said Leitner about his appearance there. All in all, it was a somewhat unusual book premiere, emphasizes the nationally known poet, editor and publisher. Because after a contingent of freshly printed copies had already been delivered to him in June from the Münchner Volk Verlag, a solo reading tour through the entire German-speaking area would have started for the Weßlinger in “normal times”. This was canceled due to the pandemic.

This is due to the fact that currently most of the events for which Leitner is booked are so-called "mixed shows". This means that he shares the stage with other poets and cabaret artists and that each individual only has ten to a maximum of 20 minutes of reading time. As a rule, invitations are not made in covered halls, the artists are supposed to appear on open-air stages - but unfortunately the “cultural summer announced by politicians” has so far not shown its best side. "Many appointments were either canceled without compensation or compensation because of bad weather, others were postponed," said the Munich tower clerk. It was not uncommon to appear in front of a few people in the continuous rain while the cold wind whistled around the corners. And as soon as the cloud book was overAs the bitter icing on the cake, swarms of mosquitoes attacked the brave protagonists and guests. Or he and his artist colleagues would have thought they were closer to heat stroke than the audience at 35 degrees - and vice versa, for example the other day at the tower scribe afternoon at the state horticultural show in Ingolstadt.

Unfortunately, the weather did not play along with Leitner's “Wadlbeissn” reading in Weßling, so that the event had to be moved to the hall of the parish barn. Due to the current corona regulations, this meant that instead of the usual 160 guests, only 42 visitors were allowed to be seated there. "I'm starting to feel like the centurion in the comic" Asterix and Obelix ", ponders Leitner. By this he means that Roman officer to whom the clever inhabitants of the stubborn, Gallic village instilled a placebo magic potion for supposedly superhuman strength. Of course, the centurion couldn't move a real menhir a millimeter from its place. The pebble, which he finally "lifted" into the air with a sense of victory, was enough for the simple-minded Roman to prove thatthat the "magical" potion had given him true magical powers. "Before Corona, I thought it was normal for 80 to 100 people to come to my reading," the publisher and poet compares with the Roman comic captain. "After the permanent lockdown, I'm happy when there are a good dozen visitors."

And more than a dozen flocked to the parish hall on Tuesday. "With 42 spectators we had a full house," said the poet happily. He is grateful to the festival director Matthias Helwig for enabling him to present his new dialect band with gripping verse as part of the 15th Five Lakes Film Festival (fsff) in the series “lyrik im kino” at his “dahoam” in Weßling as a solo program. The fsff program catalog describes Leitner's latest work in the announcement as follows: “With his new volume of poetry 'Wadlbeissn', Leitner struggles through the undergrowth of the white-blue world. His subversive and cabaret dialect poetry even teaches big-headed people to be afraid and turns every home affair upside down. Peppered poems in Bavarian and Standard German. "

Leitner and Helwig decided on the following cinematic classic and at the same time one of Leitner's favorite films because the storyline of the film, as well as the content of Leitner's new volume of poetry, fits perfectly with the motto "Perspektiven" of this year's Five Lakes Film Festival: We are talking about " Dead Poets Club ”with Robin Williams.

"It was a somewhat short, but otherwise very successful premiere for my new book," says Leitner.

"The mood was very good and I noticed from the reactions in the audience that my verses were well received by the audience and made them want more," said Leitner the day after and is happy about the successful start of the readings in his home country .
