Huang Ziyue and 14 other men and women were charged with riots due to the incident. The case was presented in the District Court today (26th) and a 35-day trial is scheduled for March 6, 2023. Although Huang was still released on bail in this case, She was not guaranteed in the primary election, so she still has to be remanded in custody.


The 15 defendants are Weng Zhiyin, Zhou Yaotian, Zhong Yongxiang, Zhong Yaoxi, Luo Zechen, Wu Zhongxian, Su Haoran, Sun Jiahao, Deng Jianhuan, Zeng Shaopeng, Huang Kangyu, Huang Ziyue, Wang Wenshan, a boy surnamed Zhen and Li Zicong.

They were charged with participating in a riot at the junction of Waterloo Road and Hamilton Street in Yau Ma Tei on November 18, 2019.

The prosecution and the defense once disputed whether the case needed to be divided. Judge Guo Weijian decided not to divide the case after considering court resources and other circumstances.

As the tenth defendant Zeng Shaopeng is still waiting for the approval of the legal aid application, his case was postponed until October 28 this year, and the cases of the remaining defendants will be pre-trial on February 3, 2023.
