JoJo Siwa tells why she is happy being pansexual 0:49
(CNN) -
An Olympic medalist and an internet personality are the first contestants to join the new season of "Dancing with the Stars," and one of them is going to make history.
Jojo Siwa will dance with a professional dancer, it was announced during a press conference Thursday during the Television Critics Association press tour.
This is the first time that two women will be paired together in the show's 30 seasons.
Siwa said that she is proud that her choice to dance with a woman "breaks a barrier that has never been broken before" and tells younger people that you can "dance with whoever you want to dance with."
Siwa, a singer and social media star, opened up about her sexuality in January and said she was a member of the LGBTQ + community and was in a relationship.
For her part, Suni Lee, a three-time Olympic medalist, joins the show after taking home gold in general competition at recent Tokyo games.
The additional cast members, who will be accompanying Siwa and Lee, will be announced on September 8.
