Allgäu - especially now!
Three years of drought in a row, the heat wave in the west of the USA and Canada, a dramatic flood disaster and the upcoming federal election are reason enough to send a strong public message for climate protection in agriculture.
The Rural Agriculture Working Group (AbL), the Solidarity Agriculture Network and the Young Agriculture Alliance (BJL) have joined forces to form the Rural Climate Alliance.
Together they campaign for climate protection in agriculture and bring their specific demands to the public and politics.
Ready for change
“We not only produce food, but also work on our farms every day for more climate, animal and environmental protection,” says the AbL, “regardless of whether they are conventional or organic farms: We are ready for changes that make the difference meet the demands of society as a whole for sustainable agriculture.
But we need appreciation for our work and fair prices for our products! "
The action alliance calls for a political framework that creates planning security and perspectives for many and diverse companies.
"For our farms and the protection of the environment, animals and the climate."
One month before the federal election and one week before the start of the AbL action week “Every farm counts!”, The rural climate alliance is calling for a large, nationwide climate sign campaign on the farms from today, Friday, August 27th: “# AlleFürsKlima - climate protection globally and here, for soil, water, people and animals ”.
According to its own statements, the alliance is setting an example for climate protection and agriculture in over 250 locations, globally and here.
Because “Climate protection concerns us all and is more urgent than ever!” Is the appeal of the rural climate alliance.
The key demands for the 2021 federal election:
- Implement effective climate protection - protect harvests and biodiversity with climate-friendly agriculture
- Make agricultural markets fair and crisis-proof - for fair prices and wages
- EU agricultural policy: abolish social injustice, reward rural environmental and animal welfare
- Finally tackle the conversion to species-appropriate animal husbandry - Compensate for additional costs
- Farmers before investors: reform the land market
- Targeted support for young farmers, ensuring access to land and capital
- For fair trade and global solidarity - stop EU-Mercosur and Co.
- GM-free agriculture: secure the precautionary principle and freedom of choice - regulate genetic engineering
- Prohibit patents on animals and plants
- For variety diversity and free seeds - ensure the right to reproduce
- Promote grazing animal husbandry and protect effectively against wolf cracks
- Accelerate the energy transition - more decentralized, renewable energy in the hands of the farmers
