For a long time, Markus Söder stuck to the incidence as the basis for all Corona decisions.

In an interview with Münchner Merkur, he is now moving away from it.

Munich - The state government no longer wants to use the incidence as a yardstick for future corona measures.

"Due to the high vaccination rate, the methodology of the first three waves, ie only concentrating on the incidence, is no longer suitable," said Prime Minister Markus Söder to

He would propose to the cabinet to adopt the Baden-Württemberg model for Bavaria.

According to this, the previous openings would be retained in the future, regardless of the incidence, but the 3G rule would then apply across the board - i.e.: vaccinated, recovered, tested.

However, details still have to be clarified.

As a new criterion for possible restrictions, the Free State wants to create a hospital traffic light that reflects the situation in the intensive care units.

"Since we couldn't come to an agreement at the Prime Minister's Conference, we're developing it ourselves in Bavaria," said Söder.

However, he ruled out another lockdown.

One could not justify that in front of vaccinated and convalescent people.

"I very much hope that because of the progress in vaccination we will not get into the situation at all." You can clearly see that the vaccination demand is increasing again.

In the meantime, even Hubert Aiwanger is promoting vaccinations, said the Prime Minister.

"That is good for the coalition."

Corona in Bavaria: Incidence in Free State is increasing - 3G rule from Monday

The incidence in the Free State has recently increased significantly. On Friday, 18 cities and counties exceeded the incidence value of 50, six more than the previous day. According to the Robert Koch Institute, the city of Rosenheim is at the top with 129 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. The health authorities reported 949 new infections - slightly fewer than on Thursday, but several times as much compared to last week. The nationwide incidence increases to 36.7 across Bavaria. The national average is 48.8. The state government justifies the comparatively lower numbers with the later start of the vacation in Bavaria. Returning travelers are generally considered to be the drivers of new infections.

Beyond the medium-term planning and the farewell to the incidence, the 3G regulation will already apply from Monday in large parts of Bavaria - here, however, still coupled from an incidence above 35. This means that unvaccinated people have to work in indoor restaurants, at the hairdresser's, during indoor sports and at Submit tests to hospital visits in the future.

Given the plans, this rule is now likely to apply indefinitely.
