How will we move from A to B in the future?
The IAA Mobility wants to provide possible answers to this question - the construction work for the first edition of the trade fair in Munich begins.
Munich - The concept of the exhibition differs fundamentally from that of the previous IAA: "The IAA Mobility is now a mobility fair that extends far beyond the car," says Lutz Meyer, Head of Communications at the IAA and the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).
The fair shows new concepts and invites the debate on the right path to climate-neutral mobility.
IAA Mobility in Munich - "Blue Lane" through the city center
The IAA Mobility will take place from September 7th to 12th.
Not only on the exhibition grounds, but spread all over the city center, exhibitors present their mobility concepts of the future - "a festival in the city", says exhibition boss Klaus Dittrich.
Cars, e-bikes and scooters are presented between Marienplatz and Odeonsplatz.
"We look forward to more than 1000 exhibitors and speakers who will present their ideas and concepts at more than 100 world premieres," says Meyer.
Exciting for visitors: the opportunity to test new car and bicycle models live.
The trade fair was planned from the start under pandemic conditions, say the trade fair company and VDA.
Anyone who has been vaccinated, recovered or tested is allowed to go to the exhibition center, and mask requirements and distance rules apply.
In addition to the exhibition grounds, the IAA program takes place in the city center, on Königsplatz, Odeonsplatz or along Brienner Straße, for example.
Here the exhibitors present their vehicles and prototypes.
The exhibitor ADAC is pleased about the possibilities: “The IAA offers the great opportunity to make it clear that mobility concerns everyone.
At the same time, it opens up the opportunity to make sustainable mobility of the future more tangible. "
“Blue Lane” - Who is allowed to use the lane in Munich?
Sustainability should also make the “Blue Lane” tangible: This is an environmental lane that shuttle and public service buses, taxis, vehicles with E-license plates and cars with at least three occupants are allowed to use.
The special lane is passable from September 6th to 12th.
The route runs between the exhibition center and the event locations in the city center: inwards via the A 94 via Prinzregentenstraße to Königsplatz, out of town via the Altstadtring, Maximilianstraße and Einsteinstraße on the A94.
Climate protests - Alliance sues against ban on demonstrations
An alliance of environmental organizations has filed a lawsuit with the Munich Administrative Court against a ban on demonstrations on Munich's motorways during the International Motor Show (IAA).
"IAA guests get an extra lane on the A94, but the civil society protest should be stopped there," criticized Andreas Schön, one of the organizers of the planned demonstration, on Thursday.
The “Get off” alliance had called for the demonstration, and a bicycle rally on the autobahn was also planned.

However, the responsible district administration department in Munich prohibited the rally on the A94 and A96.
The action was planned for September 11th.
The IAA will take place from September 7th to 12th.
The alliance that called for the demonstration consists of the organizations ADFC, Attac, BUND, Campact, Deutsche Umwelthilfe, Greenpeace, Friends of Nature Germany and the Verkehrsclub Deutschland.
“The IAA demo is also very deliberately directed against the further expansion of the motorway network and the associated climate-damaging transport policy,” said co-organizer Schön.
"We therefore consider a temporary protest on two sections of the autobahn to be legitimate and also necessary."
The alliance criticizes the IAA as a "shop window event". Car manufacturers used the fair to present themselves as "modern and climate-friendly". However, they made a large part of their profits from the sale of environmentally harmful internal combustion engines.
