Moscow-Sana

The Russian presidency condemned the two bombings that rocked the Afghan capital, Kabul, yesterday, noting that these terrorist attacks confirm the correctness of pessimistic predictions about the developments in the situation in Afghanistan.

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms these terrorist acts, and of course the reports of many deaths are very sad," Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters today, according to TASS. The first is that ISIS will not hesitate to exploit the chaos that has emerged in this country.”

Peskov warned that recent developments had heightened tensions within Afghanistan. "The danger is great for everyone, and of course this remains a concern for us," he said.

In response to a question about the possibility of Russia providing support to the United States in pursuing the perpetrators of the attacks, Peskov said: “Providing support to any party requires first receiving a request in this regard from it, and I am not aware of any demands from the Americans to us in this regard.”

Peskov indicated that his country does not plan to carry out new evacuations from Kabul at the present time, and that its future plans in this regard depend on the developments in the situation in the country, pointing out that these developments are difficult to predict.

Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not intend to deliver a speech on the Afghan issue against the background of the latest developments in Kabul, pointing out that Russia is not a member of the US-led coalition that, after a continuous presence over the past two decades, left the current chaos in this country.

More than 100 people, including 13 US soldiers and 90 Afghan civilians, were killed in two explosions that targeted yesterday the vicinity of the Afghan capital, Kabul, and were claimed by the terrorist organization "ISIS".
