The residents of the Tzahala luxury neighborhood in Tel Aviv won their battle against the Shufersal chain, and managed to lower the prices at the neighborhood branch.
Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the recession in the economy also affected Tzahala, which is one of the richest neighborhoods in Tel Aviv. The neighborhood committee turned to the Shufersal management and complained about the prices being too high for his liking. Tzahala is home to about 600 residents, some of whom belong to the upper echelons, such as Leon Recanati, Ofra Strauss, Lonnie Hercikovich and more.
One resident said that many prefer to send their Filipina and their driver for shopping at cheaper places. The expensive prices adversely affected sales at the branch, and also affected the revenues of the neighborhood committee - because Shufersal rents the store space from the committee and pays the rent from the sales turnover.
At the end of the stubborn struggle, the residents were informed this week that "after many meetings with the management of the Shufersal company, the chain decided to discount about 2,000 products, which constitute more than 80 percent of the shopping basket."
If that wasn't enough, the branch's regular customers also received gift certificates worth NIS 100.
