The Turkish parliamentarian of the opposition Republican People's Party, Sezgin Tanrikulu, revealed that the Turkish regime's organs committed human rights violations against 988 people during the month of July.
The Turkish newspaper, Zaman, quoted Tanrikulu as saying in a report reviewing the human rights violations practiced by the regime of Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Justice and Development Party during the past month that 988 people were subjected to human rights violations during the past month, including 248 who were subjected to physical violence and ill-treatment in prisons, hospitals and courts, and 67 people were subjected. For physical and psychological violence, they were sent to other prisons against their will and deprived of their health rights, in addition to the arrest of 263 people for expressing their opinions.
In his report, the Turkish parliamentarian pointed to information about the arrest of 4 journalists, the opening of an investigation against a journalist, and the sentencing of another journalist to financial penalties, pointing out that 146 workers were killed in accidents at work, in addition to the killing of 24 women and the death of 15 refugees during the past month.
According to the report, the month of July also witnessed the blocking of 226 news and publications, the imprisonment of 10 people, and the arrest of 203 people, including 5 children, in thirty events that included sit-ins, the distribution of leaflets and press conferences assaulted by the police, in addition to the ban of 5 events, press conferences, meetings, demonstrations, festivals, film shows or plays.
A party report published at the beginning of the year revealed the extent of violations committed by the Erdogan regime against more than 1,800 people inside its prisons during the year 2020 as part of its continuous policies to suppress opponents and strengthen its grip on power in Turkey.
