We had already thought goodbye to Wee.

But now the company of Tölzer Cengiz Ehliz is surprisingly back as a sponsor of the second division ice hockey team.

The contract with the Tölzer Löwen runs for two years.

Bad Tölz

- The surprise was a success.

If you thought the bright red Wee logo was already in one of the drawers of the ECT archive, it will be ubiquitous again in the future.

In the spring, the lions had prematurely terminated the contracts with the main sponsor, breast sponsor and namesake of the ice rink due to large arrears in payments (we reported).

But since Friday it has been clear that Wee will remain a supporter of the second division ice hockey team.

The sponsorship of the Switzerland-based "weeConomy AG" runs for two years.

It moves to a much smaller extent than before, but according to Löwen spokesman Martin Vogel it is endowed with a "well six-figure amount".

The parties have agreed not to disclose the content of the contract

The Wee symbol can be found on the sleeves of the jerseys, on the players' bus and, as usual, behind the Tölzer fan curve.

The fact that the contract was kept silent about the specific content of the contract makes one sit up and take notice.

TEG managing director Jürgen Rumrich let it be known that the "old season was over".

Conversely, the Lions have received a fraction of the outstanding debts, in return the Wee-Group around main shareholder Cengiz Ehliz remains on board as a sponsor.

More importantly, the agreed amount for the next two seasons has already been transferred to the TEG account.

Leuven now want to fill gaps in the offensive

Rumrich calls the deal an "amicable solution" that gives the lions leeway in budget issues.

The managing director formulated the efforts to complete the roster in a correspondingly offensive manner.

“We still have gaps on the offensive.” This primarily includes the position of the fourth import player, who is proving to be a tough affair.

The Tölzer had already signed a contract with the former Heilbronnner Bryce Gervais until it occurred to the Canadian whether the uncertain Corona situation would prefer to stay overseas.

Substitute Brandon Alderson was snatched away by league rival EV Landshut.

Rumrich refers to a “difficult market”, but emphasizes that there are some names in the room.

Cengiz Ehliz: "Take full responsibility for the situation"

The Wee representatives did not even touch on the sporting area. Chairman of the Board of Directors Prof. Leo Schutt referred to 26,000 euros cashback in the period before the pandemic, which shows that Wee had "arrived safely" in Tölz. Ehliz, however, looked back once more on the “difficult time” that made it impossible for him to guarantee reliability as “one of my most important principles”. With a clear consequence: “I take full responsibility for the situation.” At the beginning of July he approached controller Birgit Breiter to straighten out the apparent imbalance between Wee and the TEG. Ultimately, obviously with success. And a partial success for the lions.
