Tartous Governorate has developed a plan to treat the pollution caused by the leakage of fuel from one of the tanks of the Baniyas power plant, and to remove the pollution from Baniyas Beach within three days.
During a meeting chaired by the Governor of Tartous, a special committee was formed headed by the Vice President of the Executive Office, Engineer Bassam Hammoud, and the membership of the relevant authorities. at the disposal of the Committee.
After reviewing the needs of the pollution treatment process, including workers and materials, “burlap, reeds, machinery, packers, and tractors,” it was agreed to conduct the necessary inspections and diagnose the problem in a realistic and accurate manner to ensure the accuracy of the solutions set. All the necessary supplies and monitor the necessary appropriations.
Last Monday, a large amount of fuel leaked from one of the fuel tanks of the Banias power plant and polluted the sea and Baniyas beach, along a stretch of several kilometers, and some of them reached the Jableh beach.
