US President Joe Biden told Prime Minister Naftali Bennett at a White House meeting last night (Friday) that he was asking the Israeli government to refrain from measures that could increase tensions with the Palestinians, the White House said.

Biden told Bennett that he wants Israel to also refrain from marches that could contribute to a sense of unfairness, or undermine attempts to build trust between Israel and the Palestinians.

A senior US administration official said Biden was referring mainly to the possible evacuation of Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem and that the issue came up in a face-to-face conversation between the president and the prime minister.

The US president has asked Bennett for Israel to take steps to improve the lives of Palestinians and increase economic opportunities for them.

Bennett replied to Baidan that he supports improving the economic situation of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

After his meeting with Biden that the Iranian issue does not tolerate delay.

Bennett noted after the meeting that he invited Biden to visit Israel after the fight against the Delta strain of the corona virus and concluded the meeting as "excellent".

Bennett noted that both the President of the United States and he are determined that Iran will never be able to reach nuclear weapons.

"I am glad that we agree on the goal and at working levels we will work together on cooperation on the issue. There is not much time. The Iranian issue is urgent and cannot be delayed," Bennett said.

The prime minister added that he found "a leader who loves Israel, knows exactly what he wants and is also attentive to our needs."

He said after the meeting a personal connection was established between him and President Biden.

"I invited the president to Israel after overcoming the delta," Bennett said.

Block Iran through a thousand cuts

A senior Israeli official noted that Bennett was satisfied that the American president had warned in front of the cameras that Iran must never have nuclear weapons. In his meeting with President Rivlin about two months ago, Biden contented himself with saying that Iran would not have nuclear weapons on its watch as President of the United States.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister presented to the US President the process of examining the policies he has pursued on the Iranian issue. A senior Israeli official described the strategy that Bennett presented to the president as "death through a thousand cuts." That is, to block Iran through a long line of small operations on a variety of roads and plains as opposed to carrying out one dramatic and extensive military attack. "You have to be active. Harass them all the time. Even if it's not a fluke and we're done," said the senior Israeli official.

In a conversation with Biden Bennett, he described Israel's situation with Iran today as a confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. "The prime minister said that Israel is the America of the region and Iran is the Soviet Union with a rotten regime,"Said the senior Israeli.

Bennett told the US president that action should be taken to halt Iran's regional activity and "put it back in the box."

In this regard, Bennett asked the US president not to withdraw US forces from Iraq and Syria as this would serve Iran.

"We see great importance in staying American in Iraq and Syria certainly these days. We are optimistic about this," the senior Israeli official said.

At the same time, Bennett told Biden that an Iranian possibility of breaking into nuclear weapons should be permanently prevented.

A senior Israeli official said Bennett had made it clear to Baiden that Israel was opposed to a return to the 2015 nuclear deal, in part because the benefits of the agreement had evaporated (Faded away) since six years had passed since its inception.

"It is important for the Americans that we work together on the issue of Iran," the senior Israeli official said.

"The atmosphere in the Biden administration regarding a return to the agreement is not optimistic - but it is at least resting on the Iranian side at this stage."
