After fleeing his country last December, former Afghan Communications Minister Said Ahmad Shah Sadat was documented carrying out food missions in the German city of Leipzig.
The story of 50-year-old Sadat was published last week by journalist Jose Mania-Schlagel, who told a series of tweets on Twitter about the meeting with the exiled minister.
A few days ago, I met a man who claimed to be the Afghan Minister of Communications two years ago.
I was wondering what he was doing in #Leipzig.

An article published about Sadat in the German newspaper Bild two days ago stated that he has been living in Leipzig for about a year in a small apartment located in the east of the city and costs 400 euros a month.
According to Sadat, he feels safe on German soil.
"I'm no longer a rich man," he told Bild, "but I enjoy the work and the money enough to survive."
Later in the interview, when he was shown pictures of Kabul, he shared: "It breaks my heart."
He then added: "The world must stand by the side of the Afghan people, otherwise the problems there will become our problem here in Germany."

Sadat served as a minister in the administration of escaped President Ashraf Ghani for two years.
He holds two degrees in communications and electronics engineering from Oxford University, and before serving as a minister, he worked as a consultant to the Ministry of Communications in Afghanistan.
His photos have become the talk of the day on social media, amid a Taliban takeover of Afghanistan following the evacuation of US forces from the region.
