Italy announced on Saturday the upcoming end of the mandatory quarantine for visitors from the United Kingdom if they are vaccinated and negative for Covid-19.

Health Minister Roberto Speranza said on his Twitter account that he had signed a decree removing "
the five-day mini-quarantine for people coming from the UK in case they show a full vaccination and a negative test
" .
The measure is due to come into effect on August 31.
Rome had reimposed a quarantine on British travelers on June 21 due to the spread of the delta variant in the United Kingdom.
Roberto Speranza also extended “
restrictive measures for arrivals from other countries
” outside the EU.
Italy intends to support its tourism sector which directly and indirectly represents nearly 14% of GDP and has been greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
With 65 million visitors in 2019, Italy is the 5th most visited country in the world after France, Spain, the United States and China.
